Сегодня многочисленные локально сделанные фильмы продолжают появляться в кинотеатрах и их популярность растет. Фильмы часто малобюджетные, практически любительских видеоматериалов, которые тем не менее нашли свой путь к восторженных зрителей.
Сибирские коренные народы Якутии используют пленку как в качестве механизма самовыражения и в качестве инструмента в процессе политического признания. Кино рассматривается многими как сильное средство для продвижения национальной культуры.
Якутское производство фильмов чрезвычайно разнообразен, может похвастаться диапазон жанров, от комедии и ужасов к арт-хаус и драмы.

Yakutsk, Russia. The team DetSat, short for «Children of the Sakha theatre» is famous for their comedies. Their movies are blockbusters in Yakutsk, in the city actors are often asked for selfies and autographs. Two of them have become local culture managers: Aleksej Yegorov (5th from left) is now the manager of the local «concert theater», Dmitrij Schtschadrin (third from left) has become the director from state film company Sakha film. Stepan Porjadin (red jacket) is the new young Yakutian cinema star.

Nogowizyn, who makes small films about nature by himself, is the wilderness location specialist of the Yakutian cinema community. As he organizes expeditions for school children, he is a famous for knowing every tree, pond and animal outside. The movie maker often contact him for consultations. His grandchildren show the bones of a mammoth, which they have found outside in the wild.
